Information About Summer School

EL MONTE UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT SUMMER SCHOOL BULLETIN
June 18 – July 26, 2012

Summer school classes are offered as a special privilege for students who wish to take extra classes so they may be better prepared for college or their chosen vocation, and/or to make up a required class. Because students earn eighteen (18) weeks of school credit for six weeks of work during the short summer session, good attendance is required. Students who fail to follow school and/or classroom rules will be asked to continue their education during the regular school year and will be excluded from summer school.

Important Reminder about New Vaccination Requirement

This is a reminder for all students returning to El Monte High School in the Fall of 2011. Every student must have proof that they received the Tdap Booster shot before they enter school in August (grades 7-12). The school will not be able to accept students in August who do not have this booster shot!

Please make sure to get this shot, if you haven’t done so yet. There is an informational letter available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese on the district website: www.emuhsd.org under Parents & Students --> Parent Information tab).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR TEXTBOOKS

ATTENTION STUDENTS!!! PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY!

In order to make sure that you do not get fined or charged for damaged textbooks, please follow the instructions below:

1. Make sure that there is a clear protector cover over the barcode that says El Monte High School on the back of your book. The covers are important because if the barcode falls off or is damaged beyond recognition, we will assume the book is stolen or tampered with and you will be charged the full replacement price! Also, if the barcode is damaged and needs to be replaced, you will be charged $5 to cover the cost of replacing the barcode. You can pick up a cover in the Student Store, Room 76, or the Library.

2. Please look through your books and throw away any papers or trash you find inside. You can remove the book card from the front or back pocket, but please do not rip out the pocket itself, as this may damage the book.

3. If you find any serious damage when going through the book that is not already noted, you should show us in the Student Store, Room 76, or Library at lunch, before school or after school. We will stamp it “damaged” or replace it, so that you will not be blamed for it. Otherwise, you might get fined or charged for the damage at the end of the year because we will have to assume that it was damaged while in your care.
